Your trade mark application is examined by an examiner from the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ), who may raise objections based on the Trade Marks Act or Regulations.

In order for your trade mark application to be accepted, you will need to overcome the objections that are raised before the deadline the examiner has set for doing so.
Options for overcoming the objections that are raised may include making a written response to the examiner regarding the applicability of the objections or amending your trade mark application. The options available and which is most appropriate will depend on your specific situation.
